Lynn Lavender

​Lynn Lavender is our Kindergarten/1st Grade Math and Science teacher.  She has her Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Work from the University of Georgia.  She has taught for several years and enjoys bringing her love of gardening and the arts into her classroom.  She is the proud mother of 5.  When asked why she loves to teach?…”I love teaching because the children bring me so much joy, and I like to share knowledge!”

Deborah McMullen

​Debbie McMullen is our Math and Science teacher for grades 3rd-6th, and she has been with us from year one!  Her love of education is exemplified by her B.A. in English/Psychology from Southern Methodist University, her M.A. in Curriculum Development from Oral Roberts University, and now completion of her Ed.D in Educational Leadership from Oral Roberts University.  Debbie loves baseball, reading, and puzzles.  When asked why she loves to teach?… she loves investing in kids and sees teaching as a calling from God!

Traci Wagner

​Traci Wagner is our 3rd -6th grade ELA and History teacher. She has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology/Education from Marymount University in Arlington, Virginia. She also holds a Master’s degree in Elementary Education with an emphasis in curriculum development. Traci has worked in the education field for over 20 years. Traci’s curriculum work has included a published unit of study by the International Literacy Association. She has spent the last three years living in Germany and looks forward to sharing that experience with her students. Traci enjoys spending time with her family; her two teenage children keep her busy! Traci enjoys painting, graphic design, gardening, and reading. 

Carol Elias

Carol Elias is our Kindergarten/ 1st grade ELA and Social Studies teacher.  Carol graduated from Arizona State University with a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education and a Master's Degree in Educational Administration, along with a Principal Certification from Northern Arizona University. She taught 2nd-4th grade in Maywood, Illinois for 3 years, before returning to Phoenix where she taught 1st and 2nd grade in the Madison School District for 11 years. For the past 8 years she has worked in the Dripping Springs ISD with most of her time spent in PreK, Kindergarten, Special Education and Physical Education. Carol enjoys traveling, reading, and spending as much time as possible with her husband and 4 children.

Lisa Reed

​Lisa Reed joined our staff in 2011.  This year she will co-teach our STEM program. She has her B.S. in Physical Education from Texas A&M University and has lifetime certifications in Biology, Life & Earth Science, and Physical Education.  She has been married to her husband, Tom, for 29 years and has 2 children.  Her hobbies include swimming, cycling, running, and yoga.  When asked why she loves to teach?… “I believe I was born to teach school.  I love the personal connection with students and guiding them to success.  I love watching my students grow year after year.  It is a privilege to be a part of their lives.  When I teach, I feel I am doing something good.  I am contributing!”

Amy Goertz

​Amy Goertz is one of our STEM program teachers.  She has her B.S. in Industrial Engineering from Texas A&M University as well as her Masters in Business Administration.  Amy has been married to her husband, Jason, for 22 years and has 2 children.  She enjoys reading, camping, traveling, swimming, and spending time with her family.  When asked why she loves to teach?… she likes to spread enthusiasm about technology subjects!

Tom Gripka

Tom comes to The King's Academy by way of Missouri, moving to the area with his wife, Susan, in 2015. He earned his BA in Christian Ministries from Southwest Baptist University in Bolivar, Missouri and brings more than 35 years of ministry in pastorate/hospital chaplain experience with him. Tom is very excited to be a part of TKA and looks forward to help shape our next generation into becoming Christian leaders in the home, the Church and their community.
